Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the 17th Civil Services Day in New Delhi, delivered a powerful message highlighting the transformative journey India has undertaken over the past decade and the ambitious roadmap for the future. Speaking to a gathering of civil servants, PM Modi stated that the policies currently being formulated by his government are not just for the present but are intended to shape the future of the next 1000 years.
Emphasizing the need for unwavering dedication, the Prime Minister urged everyone to work relentlessly, every day and every moment, to achieve the shared vision of a developed India. He remarked that the country has moved beyond mere incremental changes to achieve impactful transformation, laying a strong foundation over the past 10 to 11 years.
PM Modi praised India’s emergence on the global stage, not just as a growing economy, but as a country setting new standards in governance, transparency, and innovation. Highlighting future goals, he pointed towards crucial sectors like energy security, clean energy, sports excellence, and space exploration. He stressed the vital role of civil servants in ensuring India swiftly becomes the world’s third-largest economy, cautioning against any delays in realizing this national mission.
The Prime Minister lauded the success of the Aspirational Districts Programme, which has brought about notable improvements in healthcare, social development, and infrastructure across various regions. He said that the true measure of good governance lies in how effectively government schemes reach the grassroots and positively impact lives.
In a rapidly evolving global landscape, PM Modi urged the bureaucracy to remain vigilant and proactive in addressing major global challenges, especially those affecting the Global South. He pointed out that food, water, and energy security continue to pose serious concerns and require urgent and coordinated attention.
On the occasion, PM Modi presented the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration, recognizing outstanding contributions in the categories of Holistic Development of Districts, Aspirational Blocks Programme, and Innovation. These awards celebrated the innovative spirit and dedicated service of civil servants who are driving meaningful change across the nation.
Additionally, two eBooks were released during the event to commemorate the day and showcase exemplary administrative practices.
