IIIT combined convocation on April 12 to be attended by leading academics of the county
The combined second and third Convocation of IIIT Agartala will be held on April 12 at Visvesvaraya Auditorium, NIT Agartala, according to a statement.
Prof. (Dr.) Gautam Barua, Former Director, IIT Guwahati and IIIT Guwahati, will be the Chief Guest of the function and will deliver the Convocation Address. Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Patra, Director, NIT Agartala and IIIT Guwahati, will be the Guest of Honour.
Lt Gen. Rtd. Himalaya Singh, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIIT Agartala will preside over the function while Prof. (Dr.) Abhay Kumar, Director, IIIT Agartala, will award the degrees to the students.
In this convocation ceremony, 15 B. Tech students in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) will get their degrees for the Academic Year 2022-23. Besides this, 18 B. Tech students in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) will get their degrees for the Academic Year 2023-24.
The IIIT Agartala was established as a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) Model in accordance with the IIIT Act passed by the Ministry of Education in 2017. ONGC and NEEPCO are the Industry partners. The IIIT Agartala has been conferred with the ‘Institute of National Importance’ by the Ministry of Education.
The Institute has been functioning from NIT Agartala campus since 2018. As of today, IIIT Agartala offers a B. Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering. The students in the UG programme are being admitted through JEE (main) Examination and JOSAA/CSAB.
The first batch of students passed out in the academic session 2021-22 with a placement record of 100%. The placement record is 87% for the Academic Year 2022-23. Students have received offers from different companies and organizations in the Academic Session 2022-23 and 2023-24.
