Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who is also the BJP state unit president held a meeting related to the party’s by-poll related matters on Thursday. The meeting presided over by Dr Saha was the first meeting after by-poll was declared. The meeting which was attended by central observer Vinod Sonkar discussed the poll preparedness of the party. They also held preliminary discussion on the candidates.
Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb was in Hyderabad and could not attend the meeting , though three other ministers Ratanlal Nath, Ram Prasad Paul and Sushanta Chowdhury along with BJP state vice-president Rajib Bhattacharjee and general secretaries- Kishore Barman and Papia Dutta were present.
It is learnt that while it was almost certain that the Chief Minister himself would contest from the Bordowali constituency the candidates for other seats were also almost final.
Sonkar , in the meantime also held a meeting with IPFT chief NC Debbarma.
Earlier on the day Dr Saha returned from New Delhi where he had met President R N Kovind, several ministers including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah , Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
On Thursday before his return to Agartala Dr. Saha along with his wife Swapna Saha met two central ministers..
During his meeting with Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw at Rail Bhavan, Dr. Saha requested for expediting the pace of development projects and also held brief discussions on further extension of railway network in Tripura.
“Today, I met Union Railways, Communications, Electronics & IT Minister Hon’ble Shri @AshwiniVaishnaw Ji in the Rail Bhawan for a courtesy visit. Requested him to expedite the pace of developmental projects & further extension of railway network in Tripura,” Dr. Saha tweeted.
According to Dr. Saha, in his meeting with Minister for Rural Development and Panchayeti Raj- Giriraj Singh, several matters including MGNREGA implementation, Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana and other centrally-sponsored projects were discussed.
Later, the Union Minister mentioned in a Facebook Post that he had assured the Chief Minister of all possible assistance.
“Met Hon CM Tripura today morning at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. Discussed on various developmental issues with Hon CM. Development of Rural Tripura is our commitment and have assured him of all possible support,” Singh wrote on Facebook.
