NEWS BRIEF : Sushanta chairs meet on SRFTI, Cop held with contraband
A centre of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) will soon be seen functioning in Agartala.
Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday discussed the steps needed to be taken for opening of the proposed centre in the city.
He held a meeting with the officials concerned at the civil secretariat to prepare a draft on the required tasks.
According to Chowdhury, the initiative has been taken by the state government so that the state’s youths get an opportunity to work in their area of interest.
In the meeting, secretary of ICA PK Goyal, director Ratan Biswas, Engineer-in-Chief of PWD Dipak Chandra Das, senior architect Sanjiban Das, Assistant Commissioner of AMC East Zone and other officials were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, a three-member delegation of SRFTI had visited Agartala last month and inspected the proposed site at Nazrul Kalakshetra.
Police officer arrested with contrabands
A police officer and two others were arrested with phensedyl in their possession on Sunday night.
Suresh Debbarma, Inspector of Tripura Police posted at Sepahijala district, was arrested along with two others- Prabir Rupini of Champaknagar and Birendra Debbarma of Takarjala from Gabardi Chowmuhani.
The policemen led by SDPO Amtali Ashis Das also seized two vehicles and one motorcycle.
A case under NDPS Act has been registered against the trio at Srinagar police station. They would be produced before the court on Tuesday.
TMC meet in Belonia
Belonia unit of Trinamool Congress organized a rally at Belonia town in protest of Price hike on Monday. Prior to the rally the TMC workers and supporters assembled at Tilla No-1 of Belonia and organized a roadside meeting. The leaders discussed for longtime about the problem of people in the state due to price hike. Meanwhile Pradesh president of TMC Subal Bhowmik , senior leader Rajib Bandyopadhyay and other leaders arrived there and joined the rally after meeting . The rally paraded through Old Motorstand, Thana Corner, BKI Corner and returned Tilla No-1 via Kalinagar Motorstand. During speech at the end of the rally the leaders alleged that TMC got permision from administration to organize workers conference at Balaka Rest House of Kalinagar. But somebody closed the rest house with lock. So TMC failed to conduct the worker’s conference. As a result they had to end the programme through a road side meeting after the rally. Speaking on the occasion the speakers strongly criticized the activities of the ruling government.
