CM indicates he may join fray from Bordowali

With speculations being rife as to whether the by- elections to the vacant assembly seats would be conducted in time , Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who is also the BJP state unit president  said party is ready to fight the by-elections.

At present while four assembly seats are lying vacant, Dr Saha himself has to return as an MLA to the assembly. He is at present a Rajya Sabha member. Dr Saha chaired an organizational meeting at the BJP state headquarters that discussed the organizational matters in threadbare.

The Chief Minister even indicated that he might join the fray from 8-Bordwali constituency.

“Since I became the Chief Minister, I will have to contest the polls. In case of by-elections, I will fight from the constituency to be decided by the party. But everyone knows the area I reside,” Dr. Saha told the reporters.

He said, the meeting was a routine exercise. The state office bearers and party leaders of various units from the district level also joined the meeting.

Dr. Saha said various party programmes including karyakarini meeting of the executive body would be finalized in the meeting.

It was Dr Saha’s first organizational meeting since he became the Chief Minister. The meeting is assumed to be significant in view of the by-election.

Meanwhile, the by-elections are due in four seats: 6- Agartala, 8- Town Bordwali, 46- Surma and 57- Jubarajnagar.

On the other hand, BJP state general secretary Kishore Barman held a press conference and spoke about the achievements and works done by the Modi-led government over the past eight years. 

 In order to meet the blood crisis in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Tripura chapter initiated all district level mega blood donation camps, said the state yuva morcha vice-president Rana Ghosh on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference at Krishnagar BJP Pradesh Karyalaya, he said the members of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha would organize mega blood camps in all eight districts of the state. The initiative started from Santirbazar Mandal in South Tripura district on Sunday, Ghosh added.

He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the central government for reducing petrol and diesel prices.
