Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha visited former Left Front minister, presently MLA  Badal Chowdhury at Tripura Medical College in Hapania on Friday. Chowdhury had been admitted in the hospital yesterday.

As it happened Dr Saha, a maxilla facial surgeon was also a professor in the same medical college since its inception.

Dr. Saha instructed the doctors to take proper care of the ailing MLA.

During his visit the doctors and other staff from both health care as well management were evidendtly overjoyed as they met their own colleague as the Chief Minister of the state.

Dr Saha also went to his erstwhile workplace- Dental Surgery Section, and office of the Medical Superintendent.

The Chief Minister also visited GBP hospital to review its infrastructure and service related matters. Senior  health service officials including health secretary J K Sinha were present at the review meeting.

Dr Saha visited various units and instructed the officials to improve the  basic facilities including cleanliness and regular follow-up of patients.

He said, the infrastructure of the hospital is in good condition; now maintenance is important.

He emphasized on the matter so that the patients don’t have to undergo treatment on the floor. He asked the doctors to take the responsibility of providing advanced healthcare services to the patients.

Dr. Saha, who visited the hospital for the first time after taking over charge, said there is a decline in the number of referral cases. He asked the hospital authority and the doctors to take initiative for delivering more healthcare facilities to the people.

Taking part in the meeting, the officials of the Health department discussed various issues and presented the present status of infrastructure in the GBP Hospital.

As part of his visit, the Chief Minister met a party karyakarta of Karamcherra mandal who is undergoing treatment in the GBP hospital.
