Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman sought clarification from BJP as to why former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb all of a sudden resigned from the position.
Addressing press conference and flanked by his companion Asish Kumar and Prashanta Bhattacharjee Saha Roy Barman said that there were some Whatsapp message in circulation and the BJP failed to come up with a convincing answer as to why Deb quit. If the ruling party failed to give reasons then we would have to believe in what was in circulation by Whatsapp messages, said Roy Barman.
The Congress leader also frowned upon at the way Chief Minister’s security details were still being used by Deb, though he was no more in the post.
“Use of such security coverage by a mere MLA is ‘illegal’ since he is not entitled forit”,” Barman said.
He said, “Despite the fact that he was dropped from the CM’ post and Dr. Manik Saha has taken the oath of his office as new Chief Minister of Tripura, how could Biplab Kumar Deb still enjoy such security coverage and that he has not yet vacated the CM’s residence?”
“It has also come to notice and people of this state had seen how being a mere MLA the former CM had a chopper ride to reach the outskirts of Agartala for a party programme. In this case why the other MLAs are not entitled to avail such a facility?,” Barman questioned.
He said, “We demand the Director General of Police to immediately withdraw the illegal security coverage of Deb that he is still enjoying.”
