Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Diu, and Daman the country’s heritage and highlighted the efforts of his government to transform it into a model state with inclusive development. Addressing the public gathering at Silvassa, he said that over the years, the Union Territory has achieved a unique identity in development in terms of world-class infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, education, and tourism. He also commended the UT administration for achieving saturation in many social security schemes.

The Prime Minister said the development of rail and road networks has given a major boost to tourism. Highlighting various ongoing tourism projects in the region, he said the Union Territory has become one of the popular tourist attractions in the country.

He said the vision of a developed India can only be achieved by the creation of a healthy India. Saying that his government is very sensitive to the needs of the common man, the Prime Minister highlighted the efforts of his government to strengthen health infrastructure and expand the network of Janaushadhi Kendras to provide medicines at affordable prices to the people.

Mr. Modi also said that Mission Manufacturing will benefit the region in the future, as it has emerged as an industrial centre over the decade. He said industrial development in the region has not only created new employment opportunities but also empowered the tribal population.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of NaMo Hospital at Silvassa. The 450-bed NaMo Hospital has been built at a cost of over 460 crore rupees. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 62 projects worth 2,587 crore rupees at Silvassa. These include various village roads and other road infrastructure, schools, health and wellness centres, Panchayat and administrative buildings, Anganwadi centres, and water supply and sewage infrastructure, among others.

In the evening, the Prime Minister will travel to Sura, Gujratt to launch the Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign. About 2 lakh beneficiaries in Surat will receive benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). Tomorrow, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Mr. Modi will attend the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ in Navsari. The Prime Minister will disburse over 450 crore rupees in assistance to 2.5 lakh women from more than 25,000 Self-Help Groups.
