Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik made her maiden visit to ONGC’s Tishhna EPS (Early Production System) on  April 30 where she was received by Asset Manager of ONGC Tripura Asset Tarun Malik, Surface Manager Sachiv Kumar and other senior officers of Tripura Asset.

The MoS appreciated the efforts put in by ONGCians and added that due to ONGC’s gas supply to Power Generating companies, Tripura today is a power-surplus State.  She specially acknowledged the tireless and undaunted efforts of ONGCians posted in Tripura which were critical to maintaining uninterrupted gas supplies throughout the last two years of the pandemic.

As part of the visit, the Bhowmik was given a brief presentation covering the entire gamut of ONGC’s operations in Tripura Asset along with its CSR activities. Subsequently, she was also given a walkthrough of the production site. The Minister took a keen interest in understanding ONGC’s gas production operations in the State. She further commended ONGC for implementation of advanced technologies like Self-Assisted Plunger Lift Systems to enhance has production from the gas wells in Tripura, as mentioned in the presentation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, “Unless, one sees the gamut of operations, one cannot appreciate the role played by ONGC for the country’s energy security. ONGC’s energy soldiers are coming from different corners of India and contributing in the development of Tripura. All of you are doing an exceedingly good job.” She also appreciated the CSR efforts carried out by ONGC in the State.

ONGC’s operational growth in the State creates further opportunities for developing local vendors in order to generate synergies and win-win solutions that benefit the State as well as its business in Tripura, in alignment with the larger vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. It may be noted that about 97% of total Gas produced by ONGC in the State is sold to power generating consumers which meets 35% of total power requirement of Northeast Region.
