The government today informed the Lok Sabha that the claims of farmers in the country under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana have been settled to an extent of over 1.72 lakh crore rupees. Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a written reply stated that since the inception of the scheme, about 32 thousand crore rupees have been collected as a premium from farmers till last year.
In another written reply, the minister also added that in 2024-25, till 26th January this year, over 22 lakh and over 76 lakh farmers have benefitted by procuring wheat and paddy respectively.
