The present government is giving topmost priority for ensuring quality education in the state. Number of Eklavya Model Residential Schools is being increased in tribal populated areas. 125 schools of the state have been already brought under Mission Vidyajyoti, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating newly built Laljuri Higher Secondary School building and newly built Girl’s hostel of Kastuba Gandhi Girls School in Kanchanpur today. He said, after the present government took over, a lot of change has been brought in distribution of items in ration shops. Earlier, only rice, salt, kerosene used to be given in ration shops. Sugar distribution stopped after lifting government subsidy in case of sugar. But the present government has once again started distribution of sugar along with starting distribution of Dal, Wheat flour, Maida, Suji, Soyabean and tea.

The Chief Minister said, the central government has granted housing for over 2 lakh families in the state under PMAY-G scheme. The Prime Minister has granted first instalment for construction of 1 lakh 59 thousand houses altogether in last September. The Prime Minister saved many lives by providing free Covid-19 vaccination during the pandemic. The Prime Minister is providing different kinds of facilities for improvement of quality of living of the people such as free cooking gas connection under Ujjwala yojana, free rice for the poor, housing under PMAY, toilets, electricity connection, improved roads, drinking water connection etc.. Several different developmental works were done in Tripura such as improving National Highway, opening of new terminal building of MBB Airport, improvement of infrastructure etc.. Apart from this, income per head has increased as compared to past days. Farmers’ income has increased. Farmers are also getting 6 thousand rupees annually under PMKISAN. Paddy is being procured from farmers at MSP through FCI. Tripura’s Queen Pineapple is hitting international markets. The Prime Minister even mentioned Tripura’s jackfruit in his Man Ki Baat programme. Farmers are now getting their deserved price after Tripura’s scented lemon hit markets outside the state.

He said, the state government has increased the social pension to 1 thousand rupees primarily, which will be increased to 2 thousand rupees before this Durga Puja. The fund has been alotted in the budget of the present financial year. He said, transparent recruitment policy has started in the state. Age for service in TSR has been increased to 60 years. He also said, 5 schools in Kanchanpur have been turned to CBSE schools. NCERT syllabus has been introduced. 33% women reservation has been ensured in government jobs to empower women.

Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Santana Chakma said, overall development of the state in case of roads, drinking water, electricity etc., has been possible due to the present government. Others present during the inaugural programme were MDC Swapna Rani Das, North Tripura DM & Collector Nagesh Kumar B., SP Kiran Kumar K. and Director of Higher Education Nripendra Chandra Sharma. The programme was presided over by Laljuri BAC Chairman Ajant Kumar Choudhury. The new building of Laljuri HS School was built at the cost of 5 crore 90 lakh rupees. The 100-seated Girl’s School of Kasturba Gandhi Girls School was built at the cost of 1 crore 85 lakh rupees.
