On the occasion of Tripura Statehood Day, the state government honored the late Susanta Kumar Chaudhuri with the prestigious ‘Tripura Bibhusan Samman‘ posthumously.

Late Susanta Chaudhuri, the former Principal of MBB College, is widely regarded as the most respected and beloved teacher in Tripura. His remarkable personality, elegance, and dignified bearing earned him the honorary title of “Patriarch of all teachers.” His legacy is almost legendary, transcending decades as students and colleagues still speak of him with high regard. He was known for his awe-inspiring aura, deep love for his students, and unwavering commitment to discipline.

The announcement of the Samman in his honor brought immense joy throughout the state. His dedication to education and his profound influence on countless students left an indelible mark. The award was received by his two sons from the Chief Minister, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, during the Statehood Day celebration. (Picture show his two sons accepting the award given posthumously)

In addition to honoring Susanta Chaudhuri, the state government also conferred State Civil Awards to several other distinguished individuals. However, the recognition of Chaudhuri stands out as a testament to his enduring impact on the educational landscape of Tripura.

The awards were presented during a state-level program attended by prominent figures including Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, and DGP Amitabh Ranjan.

Chaudhuri’s legacy continues to inspire and shape the educational ethos of the state, embodying the values of dedication, discipline, and love for students. His story is a reminder of the profound influence a dedicated educator can have on generations of learners.

Additionally, the state government conferred State Civil Awards to four other individuals:

  • Pandit Subal Biswas (Tripura Bhusan Samman)
  • Jahar Banerjee (Sachin Dev Barman Smriti Rajya Samman)
  • Jyotsna Akhtar (Maharani Kanchanprava Devi Smriti Rajya Samman)
  • Smita Dutta Choudhury (State Award for Scientific and Environmental Activities)

During the state-level celebration of Statehood Day, the state government also gave several other awards:

  • Good Citizen Award (Late Chiranjit Dey Posthumously)
  • Best Start-Up Entrepreneur Award (Ripan Das)
  • Best Entrepreneur Award in Agriculture (Kamal Debbarma)
  • Best Entrepreneur Award in Fisheries (Sricharan Das)
  • Best Entrepreneur Award in Animal Husbandry (Piyanki Deb Sharma)
  • Best Entrepreneur Award in Village Industry (Handloom, Handicrafts, Bee Keeping) (Pinku Kumar Nath)
  • Best Entrepreneur Award as Industrial Enterprise (Bimal Singha)
  • Best Mobile App Award (IT Department for PDMS)
  • Best Cooperative Society Award (Takarjala LAMPS Ltd)
  • Best Academician Award (Sushanta Chakraborty)
