In the wake of a blast that occurred at the Islamabad police station in the district, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav visited Amritsar on Tuesday and directed officers concerned to ensure professional policing and take strict action against the perpetrators. The DGP chaired a high-level meeting with top police officers of the border districts Amritsar and Ferozepur and directed them to take strict action against those who are trying to vitiate peace in the State.

The Punjab Police Chief claimed that foreign-based gangsters, working on the instructions of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) and Pakistan-based Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) are trying to create terror in the State by targeting police stations. He said none will be allowed to disturb the peace in the State. He had recently warned the ISI and its coterie that his force would never allow their nefarious intentions to succeed. The police have also busted many modules and have arrested many operatives of these gangsters.

Our Jalandhar Correspondent reports that this was the sixth blast in over 20 days from November till date in Amritsar, Batala and Nawan Shehar-based police stations. Although, no loss of life has been reported. Yadav emphasised the need for officers to use both technical and human intelligence to detect and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The DGP also encouraged all officials to act promptly on tips received via the newly launched Safe Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline ‘9779100200’. This helpline allows citizens to report drug traffickers anonymously.
