The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police of Rajasthan over two separate cases related to negligence. NHRC has taken sou motu cognisance of media reports in both cases and asked for detailed reports from the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police within two weeks, including the health status of the victim child, police actions and actions taken against those responsible, and any compensation provided to the aggrieved families.

According to media reports, a 10-year-old child was transfused with the wrong blood type twice while undergoing treatment at JK Lon Hospital, Sawai Man Singh Medical in Jaipur, on the 5th and 7th of this month. The boy is reported to be in critical condition, requiring ventilator support.

In another case, media reports say a five-year-old boy died on the 11th of December after being trapped in a 150-foot-deep borewell for nearly 56 hours in the Dausa district of Rajasthan. The Commission has observed that the contents of the news report raise serious concerns about the violation of the victim’s human rights, if true.
