Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 25 years in public service, a journey defined by the mantra of Jan Seva Se Desh Seva, and a relentless commitment that continues. Guided by this vision for Seva and Sushasan, the Government has been ceaselessly working towards achieving the goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Through inclusive development and social empowerment, this dedication is transforming lives. Today, in our special series, we bring you an instance of how this vision has been translated into action through initiatives like Jan Bhagidari.
Jan Bhagidari, which means public participation, is a core governance model under Narendra Modi government. Schemes that utilize the Jan Bhagidari model include Swachh Bharat Mission, Catch the Rain, Vocal for Local, and Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Citizens in India had traditionally been treated as passive beneficiaries of government schemes. Jan Bhagidari has brought a change to this and fostered local ownership and behavioural change in people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi regularly highlights Jan Bhagidari as a core pillar of nation-building through his monthly radio program, Mann Ki Baat. In Mann Ki Baat last month, Prime Minister Modi again highlighted Jan Bhagidari as a driving force for social change, urging citizens to join collective movements like the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Talking to Akashvani News, Shivendra Singh, a resident of Prayagraj, spoke about how he and his family and friends believe in Jan Bhagidari and go Vocal For Local during festive seasons.
Participation has now become ownership of transformation happening around the country, with the people becoming stakeholders in national development.
