An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan on Tuesday remanded two suspects, including the mastermind behind the suicide blast close to Karachi airport that left two Chinese national dead, to 10-day police remand.

Amid tight security, the key mastermind behind the incident Javed and his female aide Gul Nisa were brought to the ATC court in Clifton.

Nisa is said to be associated with the banned group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

The banned Balochistan Liberation Army had claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing.

CTD officer Khattab earlier told Dawn that Javed was a final-year student of KUs history department, who informed the suicide bomber about the arrival of the Chinese nationals, while their accomplice Danish, an explosive material expert, remained seated with the attacker inside the car and left it just before the blast to ensure the task was completed.

About the female suspect, the officer said Gul Nisa was seen travelling in the bomb-fitted car when they were coming to Karachi from Hub.

China and Pakistan are all-weather allies.
