The Institute of Driving and Training Research in Jiraniya hosted the closing ceremony of its third batch of driving training today, marking a milestone in empowering women through skill development. Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu graced the event as the chief guest, with Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury attending as a special guest. In this batch, 37 women completed the intensive training program designed to boost their independence and employability.

During his speech, Governor Reddy emphasized the significance of providing driving skills to women, stating that it represents a key step towards their empowerment. “Today marks a proud moment for our institution, as these women not only gain vital skills but also a sense of self-reliance and confidence,” he noted. The Governor encouraged the new drivers to pursue professional opportunities and highlighted their potential role in setting an example for future initiatives supporting women’s empowerment. He stressed the importance of prioritizing safety and professional integrity on the road.

Transport Minister Chowdhury acknowledged the importance of the achievement, noting that three batches have been completed since the institute’s founding in 2023, with this all-women group being a significant accomplishment. The 45-day training aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to empower women, underscoring the state government’s commitment to fostering women’s independence through skill-based initiatives.

The event began with a welcome address by State Transport Department Secretary CK Jamatia. Governor Reddy and other dignitaries distributed certificates and driving licenses to the graduates, recognizing their hard work and dedication. Additional Secretary of the Department of Transport, Subrata Chowdhury, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the institute and its partners. The ceremony was attended by local leaders, including Jiraniya Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath, philanthropist Gauranga Bhowmik, and the Governor’s Joint Secretary Ratan Bhowmik.
