Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth around four thousand and 800 crore rupees at Amreli in Gujarat today. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to water conservation. He said that Gujarat has witnessed a massive transformation and multifaceted development during the BJP-led government, which brought water to the arid regions of Saurashtra, leading to the prosperity of farmers.

Mr Modi highlighted various initiatives of the government, including the Sauni Yojana, which proved to be a game changer in the Saurashtra region. He said the projects launched today will significantly benefit the citizens of Saurashtra, Kutch, Junagadh, Porbandar, Kachchh, and Botad districts of the state. He mentioned that the Navda to Chavand bulk pipeline will provide an additional 28 crore litres of water to approximately 67 lakh beneficiaries across more than 1,200 villages in the Botad, Amreli, Junagadh, Rajkot, and Porbandar districts. He also lauded the extensive water conservation efforts being carried out by eminent industrialist Savji Bhai Dhalakia.

Among the major projects inaugurated today are the gauge conversion of the 101.4-kilometre Bhuj-Naliya rail line, four-laning of various sections of National Highways NH 151, NH 151A, and NH 51, and various development projects worth over 700 crore rupees from the water supply department of Amreli district, including the Navda to Chavand bulk pipeline.

The Bhuj-Naliya rail line provides seamless broad gauge rail connectivity with the rest of the rail network. It will boost tourism in the Rann of Kutch and enhance employment opportunities. Besides, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several projects. Mr Modi also laid the foundation stone for tourism-related development initiatives, which include transforming the Karli Recharge Reservoir at Mokarsagar in Porbandar district into a world-class sustainable eco-tourism destination, among others.
