The Government of Tripura has established a high-level committee to review the development of Tripura Shantiniketan Medical College and the proposed hospital at Ranirkhamar, Madhuban, West Tripura. The committee will focus on assessing infrastructure, academic activities, hospital construction, and patient care services to ensure they align with the National Medical Commission’s guidelines. A notification regarding this was issued by Sri Kiran Gitte, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Tripura.

The seven-member committee will be chaired by the Director of Health Services, Government of Tripura, with the Director of Medical Education serving as Convener. Other key members include the Principals of Agartala Government Medical College, Tripura Medical College, Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital, and Agartala Government Dental College. Additionally, the committee will include the Superintending Engineer of PWD, Agartala Circle, and the Accounts Officer of the Directorate of Health Services.

The committee has been tasked with submitting an initial progress report within 30 days, with follow-up reports every six months until the National Medical Commission grants final affiliation to the MBBS program at Tripura Shantiniketan Medical College. This proactive measure is expected to expedite the institution’s development and ensure compliance with national standards, enhancing healthcare and medical education in the region.
