Block-Level Kaushal Mela was organized by Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission at Jolaibari RD Block premises under Santirbazar Sub-Division in South Tripura yesterday. The mela was inaugurated by Sabhadhipati of South Tripura District Kakali Das (Datta) in presence of Chairman of Jolaibari Panchayat Samiti Rabi Nama. She said, the Mela was organized to train youth and make them job-ready and also to impart training in life skills. Chairman of Jolaibari Panchayat Samiti said, the aim of Kaushal Mela was to take forward the mantra of the Chief Minister for the youth to ‘skill, and up skill’ and also to remain relevant in the market.
During the Mela several experts have hosted and highlighted points related to skills in beauty and wellness, hospitality, apparel, food processing, electrician and plumbing. The Mela will also have a session on entrepreneurship to brief the local youth and women about the available opportunities to start their own business.
Vice-Chairman Tapas Datta said, this mela will give utmost opportunity for the local villagers, especially to the women to work equally with men in the society and become self-dependent and for this the government has supported local women in different ways.
About 9 SHGs group of Jolaibari RD Block have come to participate for showcasing their activities and production. Around 7 private organizations have participated in the Mela for providing free of cost training and courses for skill development under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, where the local youth and women can register to meet the proper skill requirement and become an entrepreneurs. About 500 rural youths and women from Jolaibari area have come forward to attend the Kaushal Mela and further some eligible candidates were also selected for prior training in various skill development and courses. The programme was presided over by BDO of Jolaibari RD Block Dr Abhijit Das.
