The 32nd State-Level Hojagiri Festival, a two-day celebration of the traditional Hojagiri dance and the cultural heritage of the Reang and Bru communities, will begin on Friday at the Ramguna CP High School ground in Machmara, Unakoti, Tripura. Organized by the Bru Socio-Cultural Organization in collaboration with state government departments, the festival aims to highlight the region’s rich traditions.

State Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy will inaugurate the event, which will also feature the presence of Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, ARDD Minister Sudhangshu Das, Cooperative Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, and several other prominent leaders.

Shanti Rai Reang, President of the Bru Socio-Cultural Organization, shared that the festival will include a wide range of cultural performances, such as Hojagiri dance, Dhamail dance, Shiver Hajan, Bihu, Buji, Mamita, and Cherao dances. Exhibition halls will showcase the Reang community’s costumes, rituals, and crafts, while stalls from self-help groups will display traditional products.

A seminar focused on the socio-cultural development of the Reang people will be held on October 19, marking the conclusion of the festival.
