 A major train accident has been averted at Lumding area on Thursday.

According to reports 12520 Agartala — Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express that left Agartala on Thursday morning derailed at Dibalong station under Lumding division In the Lumding – Bardarpur Hill section at about 3.55 pm. Few coaches and the Engine of the train got derailed. However, no casualty or major injuries have been reported. 
Accident Relief Train and Accident Relief Medical Train has already left for the site from Lumding along with senior officials of division to supervise the rescue and restoration works. Running of trains over the Lumding — Badarpur single line section has been suspended. 
Helpline numbers at Lumding are 03674 263120, 03674 263126. As a result of derailment following trains will remain cancelled:  Cancellation of trains: 
Train no. 05698 (Guwahati — New Jalpaiguri) Special and train no. 15611/15612 (Rangiya —Silchar – Rangiya) Express commencing journey on 17th October, 2024 Train no. 05697 (New Jalpaiguri – Guwahati) Special and train no. 15616/15615 (Silchar —Guwahati – Silchar) Express commencing journey on 18th October, 2024
