In the face of perennial and increasing traffic congestion in the capital city Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has mooted the idea of constructing at least three more over bridges to ease the problem.
On Sunday the Chief Minister was having an informal interaction with senior journalists of the state. When the traffic problems were brought to his notice , the Chief Minister said he was well aware of the problems which seemed no indication to improve despite best of initiatives from the state government.
“I am fully and clearly aware of the problems and I was trying to solve it with various levels. Only recently I mooted the idea of constructing at least three more fly overs in the city itself –one from Circuit house area, one from Astabal area and one from old motor stand. There are some technical issues but I asked the concerned engineers and professionals to look into the matter with all seriousness. I personally also gave some suggestions so that less number of households or business establishments is disturbed—but my suggestions as a layman should also be judged and passed by technical and professional knowledge”, he said and added that some drastic steps need to be taken up to de-clog the traffic congestions.
The Chief Minister besides traffic problems also discussed various other issues with the journalists and assured them that he would look into the matter.
On the reopening of the old cases he said he was determined and would not spare anyone involved in murders and other heinous crimes in the past.
