At present there are six cases from the state that  were being investigated by the CBI. This was informed in the Assembly by a written reply from the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who also holds Home portfolio. The Chief Minister was not present in the House as he had gone to attend the swearing in ceremony of Manipur Chief Minister N BIren Singh.

The cases that were being investigated by the CBI included- journalist Santanu Bhowmik murder, the cased against former NIT Agartala Director Prof P.K. Bose, the case against officials of M/s Vardhman Pharma, and three cases related to Rose Valley chit-fund scams.

The CBI also requested the Tripura Government for issuing notification regarding ‘extension of powers and jurisdiction of all members of the Delhi Special Force Establishment to the State of Tripura’ for taking over more 35 cases. A notification was already issued by the state government in this regard. MLA Sankar Roy had raised the admitted un-starred question.

In another written reply it was told that As many as 3079 under-trial accused were reported absconding. The question was raised by MLA Nirmal Biswas. A police station-wise list was also enclosed with the statement. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who holds the Home portfolio, was in Manipur on Monday but his written replies were submitted in the House.

The House was informed that the state had registered 166 cases of murder between September 2020 and January 31, this year.

While 263 murder accused were already arrested, arrest warrants were issued against two accused—the reply was made on the question (admitted un-starred) raised by MLA Ratan Bhowmik.

Total 36 women and 42minor girls including 10 Janajati women and 11 Janajati minor girls became rape victims in the state from September 1, 2021 to February 28, this year.

This was replied by the Home Minister in the House in reference to an admitted un-starred question raised by MLA Jashbir Tripura.

Total 44 cases of abduction of women and minor girls were reported from September 1, 2021 to February 28, this year.

While 31 kidnapped women/ girls were rescued during this period, 27 accused involved in such incidents were arrested, the Home Minister told the assembly in a written reply on an admitted un-starred question moved by MLA Tapan Chakraborty.

 In another admitted un-starred question raised by MLA Ratan Kumar Bhowmik, the Home Minister informed the House that the number of vacant posts under the Home department are 2979 (UR), 2246 (ST) and 1034 (SC).

He also stated that filling up of the vacant posts is a continuous process which is going on through direct recruitment and ad-hoc promotion.

Referring to Bhowmik’s another admitted un-starred question, the Home Minister stated that an amount of over Rs. 1843.56 crore (Salary and Non-Salary) had been allocated for the Home department in the Budget 2021-22 out of which, more than Rs. 1510.93 crore was spent.
