Tripura’s Transport Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, announced plans to introduce Ola and Uber services at Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport. The announcement came during the inauguration of prepaid auto rickshaw and taxi counters at the airport on Wednesday.

Minister Chowdhury emphasized the need for quality service and professionalism as the airport witnesses around 4,000 passengers daily for departures and arrivals. He highlighted the significance of maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, driven by the behavioral approach and service quality of auto and taxi drivers operating at the airport.

“MBB Airport ranks first among airports in the North Eastern region and among the smallest in India. We are working to soon manage Ola and Uber services at this airport,” said the minister.

As part of the initiative, Chowdhury distributed new uniforms to 311 prepaid auto rickshaw drivers and 55 taxi drivers. He announced that new uniforms would be distributed annually ahead of the Durga Puja festival.

Director General of Police (Intelligence) Anurag lauded the Transport Department’s efforts and urged the public to adhere to traffic regulations. Several dignitaries, including MBB Airport Director K.C. Meena, Transport Secretary C.K. Jamatia, and West Tripura SP Dr. Kiran Kumar, were present at the event.
