Must Read

The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is organising a Community Radio Awareness Workshop in Agartala on August 29-30. This significant event will gather participants representing different organisations from various states in the North-East region.
The workshop aims to enhance awareness among civil society, potential applicants, government departments, and stakeholders about the vital role of Community Radio (CR) as a tool for community engagement and development. By clarifying and demystifying the Community Radio Policy and its processes, the workshop will help participants leverage this medium effectively. Additionally, it will inspire and motivate eligible civil society organizations to apply for licenses to operate Community Radio stations.
Furthermore, the workshop will offer a comprehensive overview of the foundational principles involved in establishing Community Radio stations. This includes aspects of ownership, capacity building, content generation, technology, management, and sustainability. By providing this essential knowledge, the workshop aims to empower participants with the tools and information needed to successfully launch and maintain Community Radio initiatives.
Community Radio stations play a crucial role in providing a platform for local voices and discussing issues related to health, nutrition, education, agriculture, etc. This workshop reflects the steadfast commitment of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to support and promote Community Radio in underserved regions of the country, particularly in the North-East. By encouraging educational institutions and community media organizations to set up their own Community Radio stations, the workshop aspires to enhance their ability to deliver valuable services and support their local communities effectively
