Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-elections, Rajib Bhattacharjee, officially filed his nomination papers on Wednesday. The event took place in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who was joined by several key figures, including ministers Ratan Lal Nath, Pranajit Singha Roy, and Animesh Debbarma, as well as other office bearers of the party. Bhattacharjee submitted his nomination to the Returning Officer with strong support from his party.

Expressing confidence in Bhattacharjee’s victory, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stated, “We are extremely happy with Rajib Bhattacharjee’s selection for the post of Rajya Sabha MP. I am sure he will discharge his duties and work for the welfare of people after winning with a majority.”

Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination, Rajib Bhattacharjee expressed his gratitude to the party leadership, saying, “I am grateful to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, National President of Bharatiya Janata Party J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, party leadership, and all godlike functionaries for trusting me.” He further added, “It is my determination to always work for the welfare and development of the people of the state and to build ‘Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura.’”

Bhattacharjee, who currently serves as the state president of the BJP, will contest the by-poll for the Rajya Sabha seat that became vacant following the resignation of Biplab Kumar Deb. Deb had stepped down to contest from the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat, where he secured a landslide victory.
