The Government of India has made elaborate arrangements for safe evacuation of the Indian students stranded in Ukraine while some of them had already reached home or safely crossed the Ukraine border. All of them were stranded following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Earlier in a tweet, the Chief Secretary mentioned that the GoI had already made elaborate arrangements to bring the stranded students back and there was no need to worry about their safety.

In a series of tweets, he also mentioned that out of eight students from South Tripura District, one had already reached Tripura and the seven others had also crossed the Ukraine border and were on their way to India. The Chief Secretary also confirmed that the students were ‘safe’ and officers from the district administration had met families of each student.

“Out of two students from Gomati district one has reached Tripura and another is in train to Hungary. Out of three students from Sepahijala district one has reached Slovakia, another has reached Italy and one is still in Ukraine but safe,” he wrote in another tweet.

The Chief Secretary also tweeted that four students from North District were in Ukraine– one had already reached Silchar while another was in Romania and the remaining two students had taken shelter in a metro station in Kyiv.

Two students from Dhalai district, he tweeted, were in Ukraine. Both of them had crossed the border and reached Romania. They would reach home soon.
