In France, Exit polls from the parliamentary elections predict a hung parliament, with the left bloc – New Popular Front (NFP) coalition securing the most seats in the second round. President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist Ensemble alliance has come in second, while the far-right National Rally, RN follows in third place. None of the coalitions have enough seats to secure a majority.

The exit poll breakdown from multiple media houses shows that the NFP coalition is projected to win between 175 and 205 seats in the national assembly. This puts the NFP on the top spot, but far short of an absolute majority in parliament. President Macron’s centrist coalition is expected to win between 150 and 175 seats, while Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally and its allies are predicted to gain 115 to 150 seats, despite their strong showing in the first round of voting.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said he would offer his resignation, following the defeat of Macron’s centrist coalition in the elections. In the National Assembly or the lower house of Parliament, 501 out of a total of 577 seats are up for election. The other 76 seats were secured outright in the first round of voting.
