AGMC and GBP Hospital has conducted one more successful complicated surgery. The ENT department carried out the operation on a 11-year-old girl, Niju Debbarma.
Resident of Salema under Dhalai was having difficulty as tamarind seed got stuck in her lungs. On January 30 last she was brought to Dhalai district hospital in Kulai. Doctors there primarily on emergency basis conducted Tracheostomy surgery on her and then referred to G B P Hospital on January 31.
After some tests in the ENT department, it was found that her right lung was almost not functioning as the tamarind seed was stuck inside. The doctors instantly decided to perform the complex surgery. On Tuesday a medical team under the leadership of Head of the ENT department of GBP Hospital Dr Biplab Nath performed a Bronchoscopy surgery. The complex surgery went on for about two and half hours.
The medical team had Dr. Sankar Sarkar, Dr. Bhupendra Debbarma , Dr. Sutap Bhattacharjee, Dr Shatabdi Das, Anaesthesiologist Dr Bhaskar Majumdar and other staffs. The surgery was done completely free of cost.
Doctors said the present condition of the patient is stable and Niju is recuperating fast.
