The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) has raised serious objections against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders, alleging numerous violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and criticizing the Election Commission of India (ECI) for failing to act.

In a detailed letter, CPIM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury outlined several instances where the PM and BJP leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, allegedly breached the MCC.

Yechury accused these leaders of spreading blatant lies, fabricating facts, fear-mongering, and making overtly communal appeals. He cited specific statements, such as Modi’s comment that if the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress came to power, “Ram Lalla would be in a tent again and they would run a bulldozer on Ram temple.

Yechury criticized the ECI for its “silence” on earlier complaints and for issuing notices to the BJP president instead of the accused leaders. He argued that this approach has failed to curb repeated violations. Yechury warned that if the ECI does not take decisive action against high-ranking offenders, its impartiality and credibility will be severely compromised.
