Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission has issued a directive to the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) in accordance with Section 23 of the Electricity Act, 2023.
According to a press note, this directive mandates compliance with supply code guidelines and periodic issuance of the same, specifically targeting consumers with significant electrical loads.
Effective immediately, the TSECL has been instructed to require all consumers whose connected load exceeds 4KW to obtain a three-phase power connection.
Additionally, the TSECL must survey the use of high-energy appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, water pumps and similar devices.
It is imperative that the total connected load for these appliances does not surpass the 4KW thresholds if it is connected to a single-phase supply.
Furthermore, the directive states that any applications for increasing load and three-phase power connections must be processed within seven working days of receipt from the consumer.
This measure has been taken in the interest of public safety and to ensure the efficient distribution and usage of electrical energy across the state.
