This year Republic Day Tripura Police succeeded in showcasing women power with four women cops being awarded with President’s medals. The four women personnel along with three other male policemen and are two others from Fire Service and Civil Defence of Tripura have been awarded on the occasion of  Republic Day.

According to a PIB press release, while Debajit Bhattacharjje, Inspector of Tripura Police, has been awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, the President’s Police Medals for Meritorious Service have been awarded to six other Tripura Police personnel.

They are- Thakur Chan Das, Subedar, Khowai district, Madhabi Das, WSI, Dhalai district, Sanchita Nath, WSI, Dharmanagar, Samar Murasingh, Havilder, Santirbazar, Purnima Debbarma, Naik, Gokulnagar and Arpana Rani Das, Women Constable, North Tripura.

This year, Anindya Kumar Battacharya, Director of Civil Defence, Tripura, has been awarded with President’s Civil Defence Medal for Distinguished Service while Babul Sarkar, Fire Sub-Officer from Tripura, has been awarded President’s Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in two separate social media posts congratulated all the awardees.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced 189 Police Medals for Gallantry (PMG), 88 President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) and 662 Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM).
