In Mizoram, the state government has relaxed the ongoing lockdown restrictions in the capital city Aizawl to resume economic activities. However, partial lockdown has been clamped till 14th of this month, lifting the total lockdown restrictions which have been in force in the Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) area during the last three weeks. As per the new guidelines, shops, markets and commercial transport will be allowed to operate in restrictive manner from tomorrow. However, all public places of gatherings will remain closed.
Official statement said that while total lockdown was crucial to check the spread of COVID cases, a further extension is not reasonable because it has severely affected the economy and livelihood of the poor.
