On Friday, the state government launched a pilot project for distributing Gomati’s milk products through ration shops, marking a significant step towards strengthening the Public Distribution System (PDS). Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha hailed the initiative as aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Pragati Vidyabhavan ground in Agartala, where merchandising milk products such as ice cream, curd, ghee, and paneer through Fair Price shops was initiated.
Initially, 15 ration shops under the Sadar sub-division have been selected for implementing the pilot project, with plans to gradually expand coverage to other ration shops across the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Saha highlighted the state government’s commitment to implementing innovative ideas to enhance the PDS.
Several dignitaries attended the program, including Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury, Minister for Cooperation Shukla Charan Noatia, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Sabhadhipati of Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad Haridulal Acharjee, the chairman of Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited, principal secretary to the Animal Resources Development department B.S. Mishra, director Neeraj Kumar Chanchal, special secretary to the Food department Raval Hamendra Kumar, and other officials.
