The CPI-M sub-divisional committee of the Sonamura subdivision organized a padayatra on Saturday along the Melaghar-Sonamura road to express solidarity with the industrial strike and rural bandh called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha and central trade unions on February 16. Former minister Manik Dey, accompanied by senior party leaders and workers, led the Padayatra.

Addressing the gathering, Manik Dey criticized the policies of the Modi government at the Centre, alleging that it was syphoning off national assets and finances to a select group of private corporations. He asserted that people in the state are frustrated with the anti-people policies of the central government and desire a change in leadership.

He urged like-minded individuals across the state to join the nationwide strike on February 16 to voice their opposition to the Modi government’s policies. The strike, organized by a joint forum of trade unions and farmers’ bodies, aims to protest against what they perceive as “anti-worker, anti-farmer, and anti-national policies” of the central government.

The Padayatra in Sonamura Subdivision reflects the local CPI-M’s commitment to raising awareness and garnering support for the nationwide strike against the central government’s policies. The participation of party leaders and workers underscores the unified opposition to what they perceive as detrimental to the interests of workers, farmers, and the nation.
