The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) president, Dhananjoy Gan Chowdhury, clarified on Wednesday that no decision had been made regarding the issue of allowing the Roman script for the Kokborok exam. His statement followed claims by Tipra Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, who asserted that the TBSE had agreed to the demand for allowing the Roman script for the Board examination on the Kokborok subject.
Addressing the media, the TBSE president stated that while the Education department had sent a letter to the CBSE regarding the matter, no decision had been reached thus far. He emphasized that the TBSE was not authorized to make such a decision independently. Therefore, until a new decision is received from the CBSE, the TBSE must adhere to the existing system.
The president’s statement made it evident that Pradyot Kishore Debbarma’s remarks on the issue, made in a live video, were misleading. He clarified that students should continue to follow the current pattern for writing in the Kokborok examination, indicating that no changes have been officially sanctioned.
