Sepahijala wild life sanctuary has got two Royal Bengal Tigers ‘Shera’ and ‘Tejal’ and Hill Mynas from North Bengal’s Siliguri Wild Animal Park .

The new guests are now put on quarantine for 30 days. But their arrival has already generated huge excitement. The Sepahijala zoo got the tigers after five years.

Officials have said, the animals have been brought here as a part of an animal exchange programme.

From Sepahijala, two Lions, two spectacle monkeys, two leopard cats and four blackbucks will be sent to North Bengal.

 As the plan stands, a total of 16 animals are coming to Tripura from Bengal Safari, Siliguri and 12 animals from Sepahijala wildlife Sanctuary would be sent to North Bengal. 

Two Royal Bengal Tigers—one male and one female, two leopards- one male and one female, four golden pigeons, four silver pigeons, two peafowls and hill Myna- two males and two females are coming to Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary from North Bengal. 

The official also said, the Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary will be closed for the visitors for two days on February 6 and 7 respectively for ensuring safety of incoming and outgoing animals during loading and unloading. Replying to a question, he said, the new guests would greet the visitors at Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary after the quarantine period of 30 days. 

The official said that the presence of Royal Bengal Tigers and other new animals in Sepahijala would definitely enhance the tourist attraction to a great extent.
