Trinamool Congress all India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will be arriving to Agartala on Sunday. In a tweet message Banerjee confirmed his visit to Tripura.
Though he was scheduled to visit Tripura after August 15, the sudden change in the travel programme came due to the incidents that took place in Dharmanagar and Ambassa where two Trinamool Congress activists were assaulted reportedly by the BJP workers.
According to sources soon after his arrival Banerjee will meet his party colleagues and then lead some agitation events in the city.
However, it is highly unlikely that Banerjee this time will declare the state unit of the party.
In the meantime, security arrangements are being beefed up in view of the TMC leader’s visit to Agartala.
In his tweeter handle Banerjee said, ‘Tomorrow, I am coming to Tripura to stand by every Trinamool worker who were brutally attacked by BJP goons today. It is my promise that I shall continue fighting till the very last drop of my blood. STOP ME IF YOU CAN’.
