Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has launched a new range of ‘Sanatan Khadi Vastra’ with a 20 percent discount. KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar launched Sanatan Vastra made from Khadi clothes at the flagship Khadi Bhawan in Connaught Place in Delhi. The design of Sanatan clothing has been prepared at the Khadi Centre of Excellence located at NIFT.
Addressing the media at the inauguration programme, the KVIC Chairman said that the manufacturing of Khadi does not involve any kind of mechanical or chemical process. He said Sanatan textiles prepared as per Indian tradition are unique in themselves. He further informed that during the special occasion of “Ramotsav’, New Delhi’s Khadi Bhawan is going to offer special discounts of up to 20 percent on Sanatan Vastra and 10 to 60 percent on Khadi and village industry products till the 25th of January. He said that the nation has seen a new and transformed form of Khadi under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He further said that Mr Modi has defined Khadi as Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion, and Khadi for Transformation. He reiterated that with the launch of Sanatan Vastra, KVIC wants to connect the youth with Swadeshi as the expansion of Khadi is part of improving the lives of millions of artisans in rural India.
KVIC Chairman said that in the last nine years, the business of Khadi and village industry products has crossed 1.34 lakh crore rupees. The production of Khadi textiles has increased from 880 crores to 3000 crores of rupees and the sale of Khadi products has increased from 1170 crores to 6000 crores of rupees.
