In the present financial year under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, initiative has been taken for mixed pisciculture of lobster, and fishes like Rohu and Katla in Kailasahar sub-division in November.
This kind of pisciculture is usually practised in ponds and reservoirs. Three fish farmers of the sub-division have started practising this technique of mixed pisciculture.
Each fish farmer has started mixed pisciculture in 16 Ha reservoir. Each fish farmer was given 1 thousand baby lobsters, and 1,620 mixed fish pollens of Rohu and Catla varieties. In this regard, each fish farmer was given governmental assistance of 9 thousand 600 rupees. 2 fish farmers from Gouranagar block and one from Chandipur block of the sub-division have been brought under mixed pisciculture.
