The police of Kalamcherra police station detained Jimul Haque, a leader of the BJP Yuva Morcha and the Pradhan of Madhya Boxanagar Gram Panchayat, on charges of extorting money from locals. The detention followed a series of allegations against Haque, accusing him of engaging in extortion and issuing threats to residents to coerce them into paying money on multiple occasions.
Prasanta Kumar Dey, the Officer In-Charge of Kalamcherra Police Station, confirmed the detention, stating, “There were a series of allegations against the accused Pradhan Jimul Haque, where he was accused of extorting money from locals on different occasions. He was also accused of threatening people of dire consequences to collect money from them.”
The action was taken based on a First Information Report (FIR) lodged by Amzad Hussain of Madhya Boxanagar. The arrest of Jimul Haque indicates a response by law enforcement to address the complaints and allegations made against him.
In response to the arrest, a section of locals in Madhya Boxanagar voiced their concerns, alleging that Jimul Haque’s activities had caused distress among the people. They claimed that he had been involved in extorting money and accepting bribes from residents on various occasions. Additionally, there were other allegations, including charges of moral turpitude.
