Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a sortie on indigenous aircraft Tejas in Karnatakas state capital Bengaluru on Saturday.

He was on the way to the defence public sector undertaking Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in the city.

After the sortie, Modi shared some pictures on his X handle and shared that his experience was incredibly enriching.

The Prime Minister said in a post, Successfully completed a sortie on the Tejas. The experience was incredibly enriching, significantly bolstering my confidence in our countrys indigenous capabilities, and leaving me with a renewed sense of pride and optimism about our national potential.

Modi is expected to review the manufacturing facility of HAL.

The Prime Minister will later fly off to Telangana to continue with his campaign for the assembly elections which are scheduled to be held on November 30.

The Tejas has been designed by Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and produced by HAL at Bangalore. The aircraft is an advanced fly by wire fighter aircraft with state of the art avionics.

The aircraft structure comprises a large amount (more than 50%) of composites and features a quadruplex digital fly by wire control system.

The indigenously built fighter aircraft, which flies over 1.6 times of the sound speed, is a multi-role fighter metal bird, which can fly at an altitude of over 50000 feet in the sky.

Tejas, a single-engine, delta wing, multi-role light fighter was designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).
