Rajasthan polls: Approx 40.27 votes polled for 199 seats till 1 pm

Jaipur/UNI: An estimated 40.27 per cent of more than 5.26 crore electorate exercised their franchise till 1 pm as polling for 199 out of 200 seats in Rajasthan Assembly continued smoothly and peacefully on Saturday.

As per the data of the Election Commission, while maximum 46.3 per cent votes were polled in Dholpur district, Dausa witnessed minimum voter turnout of 37.28 per cent as the polling continued at a brisk pace.

According to the Election Commission officer, voting, which started at 7 am, will continue till 6 pm.

Among other districts 37.86 per cent votes were polled in Ajmer, 42.23 per cent in Alwar, 42.44 per cent in Banswara, 45.75 per cent in Baran, 45.75 per cent in Barmer, 40.89 per cent in Bharatpur, 39.74 per cent in Bhilwara, 39.39 per cent in Bikaner, 41.21 per cent in Bundi, 40.96 per cent in Chittorgarh, 40.66 per cent in Churu, 37.28 per cent in Dausa, 38.73 per cent in Dungarpur and 43.29 per cent in Ganganagar.

Similarly, 44.68 percent votes were polled in Hanumangarh, 40.32 per cent in Jaipur, 45.13 per cent in Jaisalmer, 38.04 per cent in Jalore, 45.38 percent in Jhalawar, 40.19 per cent in Jhunjhunu, 37.68 per cent in Jodhpur, 39.12 per cent in Karauli, 42.55 per cent in Kota, 38.69 percent in Nagaur, 36.75 percent in Pali, 43.15 per cent in Pratapgarh, 39.91 per cent in Rajsamand, 39.09 per cent in Sawai Madhopur, 39.83 per cent in Sikar, 39.24 per cent in Sirohi, 41.36 per cent in Tonk and 37.6 in Udaipur.

According to the EC officials, polling continued peacefully amidst tight security as no untoward incident was reported from any district so far.

It may be noted that due to the death of Congress candidate and MLA Gurmeet Singh Kunnar from Karanpur assembly constituency in Ganganagar district, the election in this assembly segment has been postponed.
