4.96 cr voters need not to submit any documents says ECI –

Around 4.96 crore electors in Bihar need not submit any documents in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of the Election Commission in the state. Their children are also not required to submit any other documents relating to their parents. These voters are in the 2003 Electoral Roll of Bihar, which has been uploaded by the Commission on its website. The ease of availability of the 2003 Electoral Rolls will hugely facilitate the ongoing Special Intensive Revision in the state as nearly 60 per cent of the total electorate in Bihar will not have to submit any documents. This came days after opposition parties had questioned the Special Intensive Revision by the poll body three months ahead of the state assembly polls. In a statement, the Commission said that they have to just verify their details from the Electoral Rolls and submit the filled-up Enumeration Form.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has said that the objective of Special Intensive Revision is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out, and at the same time, no ineligible voter is included in the Electoral Roll. He said, over one lakh volunteers have been deployed to assist the elderly, sick, persons with disabilities and marginalised groups in filling up their Enumeration Forms. The Commission added that the exercise is required as the Electoral Roll is always a dynamic list which keeps changing due to deaths and migration of voters, as well as to include new voters.
