Around 2.87 lakh farmers in Tripura have received direct financial assistance under the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi scheme, with ₹50 crore transferred to their bank accounts as part of the 19th installment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the funds from Bhagalpur, Bihar, on Monday.

Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who attended the live-streamed event at the State Agriculture Research Station (SARS) in Arundhutinagar, Agartala, highlighted the significant impact of the scheme in the state. He stated that farmers in Tripura have received over ₹780 crore under PM-KISAN since its inception, providing crucial financial relief to the agricultural community.

Chowdhury also discussed various state and central government initiatives aimed at supporting farmers. Among them, the paddy procurement scheme has played a vital role in ensuring fair prices for farmers. This year, the state government, in collaboration with the Agricultural Development and Food Department, procured over 17,000 metric tonnes of rice at ₹23 per kg, as per the Minimum Support Price (MSP) guidelines.

Additionally, he mentioned that under the PM Dhan Dhanya Yojana, which targets districts with the lowest crop production, Dhalai district in Tripura has been selected for special agricultural support. This initiative is expected to enhance farming productivity and provide additional benefits to farmers in the region.

The virtual event marking the release of the 19th installment also saw the participation of Rajya Sabha MP and Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Sahakari Zilla Sabhadhipati Minarani Sarkar, and other senior officials.

With continued government support, schemes like PM-KISAN and paddy procurement are strengthening the rural economy and improving the livelihood of farmers across Tripura.
