The 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026 commenced today in New Delhi. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the event Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Commonwealth table tennis championships are an inspiration for everyone that will serve to strengthen relations among participating countries. She said sports have the unique power to bring people together and foster mutual understanding.
The Chief Minister said Delhi is fully prepared to host international sporting events and the Government is continuously working to improve sports infrastructure and upgrade sports facilities in the national capital.
Delhi Sports Minister Ashish Sood today said it is an honour for Delhi to host athletes from 25 Commonwealth countries, united by the spirit of sportsmanship, friendship and excellence. He said sports is a universal language that transcends differences of language, culture and Nation.
Countries including England, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Scotland, Wales, Nigeria, Kenya, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago are expected to participate in the seven-day tournament, which will feature competitions across multiple categories before culminating in the finals on the 2nd of next month.
