As the political activities in Tripura are getting intense with ruling party seeking to reorganize and reorient organization to meet the ensuring assembly polls , the opposition also upped the ante with series of agitational programmes and making critical statements about the ruling party.
Congress on Wednesday held a press conference and claimed that ‘despite terror tactics the BJP would go back to its original 1.5 per cent vote share in the next assembly elections slated for 2023’. The BJP had counted more or less 1.5 percent votes in the elections held before 2018 in Tripura where the politics were clearly bi-polar between the Left Front and Congress.
Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman in the press meet in Congress Bhawan said, not only the common people but also the BJP workers were also frustrated at the way their own party had been doing the dirty politics and were getting alienated from the common people.
“In the last elections the BJP rigged the polls to register victory. But 2023 elections would be different and the BJP would not get any chance to repeat such vote loot”, Roy Barman said.
On their own part, the Congress MLA claimed that the party was planning to series of movements against the BJP -both in Tripura and also in Centre across the state.
He also took a dig at the centre for Enforcement Directorate questioning of party president Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case and said all these ‘harassments were done as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vendetta politics” and also to divert people’s attention from NDA government’s failure.
Roy Barman who is also a votary of Congress- Left Front electoral alliance also requested the likeminded opposition parties to get united and come under one umbrella to rout the BJP and restore democracy in the state.
Roy Barman also welcomed 28 BJP workers from Khayerpur, Majlishpur, Mandai and Pratapgarh constituencies who switched over the side.
