Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated a 132 KV substation in Amarpur, enhancing local power infrastructure. He also praised youth entrepreneur Pranab Das for his fruit farming initiative and lauded Amarpur RD Block’s development. The visit highlights BJP’s achievements in power and rural development.
Tripura’s Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the newly constructed 132 KV electricity substation in Amarpur on Wednesday. This landmark development is expected to significantly improve electricity supply, strengthen infrastructure, and support economic growth in the area.
The minister’s visit to Amarpur was more than a ceremonial stop. Before attending the inauguration, Minister Nath, accompanied by local MLA Ranjit Das and officials from the Amarpur Agriculture Department, visited West Rangamati village to observe a unique example of grassroots entrepreneurship. There, they inspected the flourishing apple orchard and mosambi (sweet lime) garden cultivated by Pranab Das, an unemployed youth who turned to fruit farming as a means of self-employment.
Impressed by Das’s efforts, the minister lauded his initiative and the supportive role of the agriculture department. “It is possible to achieve self-employment through fruit farming rather than waiting idly. Pranab Das is a remarkable example of this vision,” said Minister Nath. He emphasized that fruit cultivation offers a sustainable path for economic empowerment in rural areas, especially for young people facing employment challenges.
Minister Nath further noted the strategic backing provided by the Amarpur Agriculture Department, expressing hope that Pranab Das would soon be able to market his mosambi produce successfully, thereby inspiring others to follow a similar path.
Following the visit to West Rangamati, the minister continued his tour of the Amarpur RD Block. During the inspection, he reviewed various development initiatives, including a newly constructed gym center and overnight tourist cottages. He also appreciated the well-maintained environment and infrastructure. “Amarpur is one of the best blocks in the state,” he stated, attributing this distinction to the collective efforts of the block’s employees and local leadership.
The central event of the day, however, was the inauguration of the 132 KV power substation — a project set to transform Amarpur’s electricity landscape. Speaking at the event, Minister Nath drew comparisons with the previous administration, stating, “What the Left government could not accomplish in 25 years, the BJP has doubled in just 7 years.” He underscored the rapid advancements made under the BJP government in critical sectors such as electricity, agriculture, and infrastructure.
Highlighting the importance of the substation, the minister emphasized that it would significantly improve the stability and quality of electricity supply in Amarpur and its surrounding areas. “With the operationalization of the 132 KV substation, residents of Amarpur can expect a more stable electricity supply, reinforcing the state’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic progress,” Nath declared.
The event was attended by several prominent dignitaries, including MLA Ranjit Das, Amarpur Nagar Panchayat Chairman Bikash Saha, Thakcherra Gram Panchayat Pradhan Lata Deb, and senior officials from the Tripura State Electricity Corporation.
