Election preparations underway in Tripura as polling nears

In the upcoming parliamentary elections in Tripura, authorities have identified a total of 775 vulnerable and 221 critical polling stations under two Lok Sabha electoral seats. West Tripura seat is set to host 391 vulnerable and 171 critical stations, while East Tripura will manage 384 vulnerable and 211 critical stations.
Chief Electoral Officer Punit Agarwal emphasized the conclusion of vocal campaigns for the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat and Ramnagar by-polls, with all political activities ceasing at 5 pm on Wednesday. Agarwal assured the public of extensive measures to facilitate maximum voter turnout, urging voters to relocate to their designated areas while ensuring essential facilities such as central forces, drinking water, electricity, and toilets at every polling station. Additionally, webcasting will be deployed to monitor proceedings.
Agarwal reiterated the prohibition of exit polls from April 19 at 7 am to June 1 at 6 pm, ensuring an unbiased electoral process. Furthermore, the postal ballot voting, with a total of 12,800 ballots under the West Tripura Parliamentary Constituency, will conclude on Wednesday.
In addressing concerns, Agarwal disclosed that 62 complaints had been received, with swift resolutions for 59 of them. Additionally, disciplinary actions have been taken against 13 government employees for breaching the model code of conduct and neglecting their duties.
The press conference, held at the Secretariat, saw the presence of Additional Chief Electoral Officers Subhashis Bandopadhyay and Usha Jen Mog, underlining the collaborative effort to uphold the integrity of the electoral process in Tripura.
